People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them. (Mark 10:13-16)
Safety and security are top priorities of the Tampa Covenant Church Children’s Ministry. All children who will be apart from their parents during service should “Check in” at the Children’s Ministry table in the Narthex. Children will receive a nametag with a unique identifying number, and parents will receive a corresponding “pick up” sticker. Children will be released only to those adults who have the matching sticker.
The nursery ministry is open to children 6 weeks through age 2, and is available during all worship services at TCC. In addition, a secure nursing room is available during service hours.
Sunday School (3 years old – 6th grade)
Our Sunday School aims to guide our children to Christ and to inspire them to live God-centered lives. Out of love and concern for the children in our care, all of our volunteers go through an application process which includes a background check.
Children from age 3 years old to 6th grade enjoy the worship portion of the service with their parents in the sanctuary, then go to their age-appropriate Sunday school class and return to the sanctuary for Communion.
Verse of the Month
Philippians 2:8 (ESV) October
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy,2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
Pioneer Clubs meets Wednesdays through November 17th
Pioneer Clubs meets from 6:15 – 7:45 on Wednesday evenings.
Pioneer Club is a Christ-centered, Bible based club for children ages 4 years old – 6th grade. Kids earn prizes and awards throughout the year for Scripture memorization and completing activities that teach them different skills. We would love for your children to join the fun!
Mothers of PreSchoolers (MOPS)
MOPS meets on the second Monday of every month – except June and July – from 9:30am – 11:30 am. We welcome pregnant moms, infant moms, toddler moms, and preschooler moms! A MOPS meeting includes practical teaching through speakers, demonstrations or videos. Plus, there’s food… food you didn’t make! But more important, you’ll get to have honest conversations with other moms who understand the joys and frustrations of motherhood. Please contact Mary Lynch at email@example.com to be added to the MOPS mailing list to get updates about meeting locations. We hope you can join us!
If you would like to receive the weekly Children’s Ministry email, to be kept up to date about Children’s Ministry events, please contact Children’s Director Mary Lynch by phone or text at 813-404-9812, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
